I LOVE Tea!! I drink far too much of it and have recently been struggling to sleep in the evenings. That’s why I picked this packet of lose tea up the other day in Supervalue – ‘Nik’s Tea; Rooibos After Dinner Mint Tea’ and I just had to blog about it. It’s an Irish brand made in Nik’s base in Terenure and developed with three priority elements – maximum wellness benefits, superior ingredients and fabulous flavours. Nik’s Tea have won countless awards but this particular ‘Rooibus After Dinner Mint Tea’ won Bronze at the Blas na hÉireann Awards in 2013. I found it to be great for that 9pm slump when I am dying for something sweet.

Taste & Aroma:

The tea smell like an After Eight Mint and tastes fresh, minty and little fruity. Chocolate, nuts and peppermint, are all beautifully mixed in with the finest rooibos leaves, to produce a flavoursome and mellow tea, simply perfect for after dinner

Health Benefits

Firstly this South African herbal tea is caffeine free and so it keeps your body’s cortisol levels (a.k.a. the stress hormone) low. Whats more is that it s also popular as a remedy to insomnia.

Rooibos tea is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are good things – not only do they slow the aging process, reverse the visible signs of aging (like wrinkles), and fight inflammation, but they can protect us from chronic disease, such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, as well.

This Red tea also encourages proper liver functioning and inhibits the development of fatty liver disease.

Finally Rooibos tea encourages healthy digestion and supports the digestive system in so many ways. Rooibos is perhaps most well-known for its ability to quickly and capably soothe an upset stomach.

It was’nt cheap at €4.99 per 80g bag but you only need a half teaspoon of tea per cup.
